Mopelola Olubunmi Akeju

Director, Quality Assurance and Development.

Mrs. Mopelola Olubunmi Akeju, the Director, Quality Assurance and Development is a 1983 graduate of Pharmacy from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile – Ife. Osun State, Nigeria. She holds a Master of Science Degree in Pharmacognosy from the same University. She further proceeded to the University of Mississippi, USA, where she obtained another Masters’ degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences. In the course of her career path in the Commission, Mrs. Akeju has also undergone various refresher courses on Pharmacy, Food safety, Message Development & Communication, and Management, among others.

Mrs. Akeju has worked as a Hospital and Superintendent Pharmacist and Research Fellow in the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD) before she joined the services of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) in 2001 as a Chief Scientific Officer in the Department of Awareness and Quality Development.

Mrs. Akeju has been representing the Commission in various National Technical Committees for the development of national policies on Drugs and Food Safety, the National Biosafety Management Agency Act, and the Committee on the campaign for the patronage of made-in-Nigeria products.

She is a member of some professional bodies such as the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Association of Lady Pharmacists (ALPS), Institute of Public Analysts of Nigeria (IPAN), and Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).

Mrs. Akeju hails from Eripa in Boluwaduro Local Government Area (LGA), Osun State.
